Logos Baptist Church Koinonia Camp 2018 is looking for camp staffs who have a strong work ethic and are interested in working with children (JK – Grade 4) and youth (Grades 5 – 8).   • All positions are part of the Canada Summer Jobs Program with funding provided by Service Canada. Candidates must meet the following eligibility requirements to be considered:
    • is between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment;
    • is a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act*; and is legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial / territorial legislation and regulations
    • have a valid Social Insurance number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
  • All positions are temporary full-time (35 hours per week), Monday-Friday.

Leadership Track


Leadership Track Director

Description

The Leadership Track Director will be the leader in ensuring that the Leadership Track staff members are working cohesively as a team and the camp is being run with excellence.  He / She will supervise the camp’s operation, develop the camp staff members to become the best leaders that they can be, work with the Children Track Director, and partner with the Camp Administrator to ensure all logistical and communication needs are taken care of. The Director will also provide encouragement and spiritual guidance for the staffs throughout the camp. This position directly reports to and is responsible to the Leadership Track Coordinator. 

What would you be doing?

  • Provide support, supervision, mentorship and leadership to staff members
  • Oversee and manage the overall day camp operation
  • Assist in planning the framework and methodology of the Leadership Track program
  • Ensure camp staffs and campers are supported spiritually, physically and emotionally each day
  • Ensure camp program is followed each day as per schedule
  • Be proactive and available to provide support to areas requiring assistance/expertise
  • Assist the Administrator to create and maintain camper database for tracking and contact purposes
  • Assist the Administrator to keep track of budget/expenses and prepare financial report at the conclusion of the camp
  • Build a great team environment among leadership camp staff members

Leadership Track Sports and Rec Staff

Description

The Sports and REC staff will be working together as a team to plan and develop Sports clinics that will help campers develop their skills and knowledge of different sports.  They will also build relationships with the teens and actively assist in other assigned camp activities and duties as required.

 

What would you be doing?

  • Plan and develop sports clinics that would develop various sport-related skills for the youth and build up leadership / teamwork abilities
  • Help the youth build teamwork and develop their individual skills in a fun and positive environment
  • Provide engaging programs that will encourage campers to embrace a physically fit and active lifestyle
  • Actively supervise and build relationships with the youth during other camp activities and assigned duties
  • Attend briefing/debriefing sessions with the rest of the Leadership camp staff on daily basis

Leadership Track Creative Arts Staff

Description

The Creative Arts Staff will work together to coordinate arts, music, drama and/or crafts projects for the youth. They will use different resources from church and from the arts budget to help the campers engage in different creative projects.

What would you be doing?

  • Plan, develop and execute lesson plans/programs that will engage and develop the youth in creative arts
  • Find and utilize resources within a budget in a team setting to creatively develop different projects for the campers
  • Work with the Leadership Camp Staffers to create and showcase a dramatic performance at the end of each three week session
  • Actively supervise and build relationships with children during other camp activities and assigned duties
  • Attend briefing/debriefing sessions with Leadership Camp staff on a daily basis

Leadership Track Activities Staff

Description

The Activities Staff are responsible for facilitating the Large Group Activities for the Leadership Track.  In partnership with the Leadership Track Director and the Camp Administrator they will direct and execute the weekly outing for the campers to observe new experiences within their local community and GTA.

What would you be doing?

  • Plan, develop and execute run and engaging recreational activities that will utilize other staff and Leadership campers on occasion
  • Plan alongside the Dramatic and Creative Arts team the direction and execution of the Dramatic Performance at the end of the three week session
  • Direct, execute, and lead debrief sessions with the Leadership Camp Director for the youth to engage in unique experiences around the GTA
  • Actively supervise and build relationships with the youth during other camp activities and assigned duties
  • Attend briefing/debriefing sessions with Leadership camp staff on daily basis

Children Track Director

Description

The Children Track Director will supervise the camp staff and the quality of the programs to ensure that the children track is being run with excellence.  They will supervise the camp staff, look after the overall flow of the camp, oversee the schedule and the programs, and provide assistance and guidance to staff and volunteers.

What would you be doing?

  • Plan the framework and the flow of the camp.
  • Work closely with the assistant to run a quality camp.

  • Provide encouragement, reproof and spiritual support for the staff and volunteers.
  • Assist in briefing and or debriefing sessions with staff and volunteers.

 Description

The Children Track Assistant will aid the Children Track Director by coordinating the volunteers and looking after the general management of the camp. This is to ensure that the children track is being run with excellence.

What would you be doing?

Camp Staff


Description

The Koinonia Camp Administrator will be assisting both the Leadership and Children Tracks. Before the camps start, he or she will be responsible for promotions, registrations, recruiting and arranging interviews for camp staffers, logistical preparations, communications with parents, as well as booking field trips and transportation. During the camp itself, he or she will be responsible for daily opening of the Church, assisting with the daily Sign In Procedures, producing weekly newsletters, photo and video recording, keeping track of expenses, organizing the middle of session BBQ and end of session showcase with the Track Coordinators, communications with parents, as well as overseeing photo and video editing for social media platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Execute existing promotional strategy and the registration of campers
  • Assist with the recruitment and arranging interviews with Koinonia Camp staff applicants
  • Communication with campers and guardians through email, phone contact, and parent notices
  • Prepare attendance sheets, daily sign in and sign out sheets, as well as other Camp Administrative needs as Required
  • Booking Field Trips and transportation
  • Opening camp at 8AM as well as assisting with the daily Sign In Procedures
  • Keeping track of budget, expenses, and arranging reimbursements
  • Produce Weekly newsletters for parents as well as photo and video recording
  • Organize and plan the middle of session BBQ and end of camp showcase

Qualifications

  • Strong organizational ability with close attention to detail; able to plan in advance
  • Able to communicate clearly and promptly with campers, parents, staff, and church leaders
  • Ability to plan and book field trips with little supervision
  • Able to keep track of budgets and expenses, wood processing and spread sheet experience an asset

Children Ministry Coordinator/Assistant

Responsibilities of a Children Ministry Coordinator

  •         Depending on skills, abilities, and gifts, she or he might lead and/or help with children programs.
  •          Provide administrative support to our Children Ministry events.
  •          Create and organize all Children Ministry related forms (registration forms, volunteer forms, incident report forms…).
  •          Responsible for handling registration of Children Ministry events and collection of fees.
  •          Maintain and keep up to date records of all kinds: Children Records, Volunteer Information, attendance, Police Vulnerable Sector, newcomer information, and others.
  •          Support teachers by providing/purchasing the materials they need (curriculum, stationary, print take home materials…).
  •          Responsible to set up rooms for our children programs or coordinate volunteers to do so.
  •          Work closely with the church staff and council members to maintain the facilities.
  •          Fluent in English. Ability to speak and write in Cantonese and Mandarin is an asset.

 

Qualities of a Children Ministry Coordinator

  • Able to work well with children, parents and volunteer helpers, teachers, chairs and coordinators.
  • Possess administrative, organizational and leadership skills.
  • Able to assess the needs of various Children Ministry programs and able to communicate those needs and concerns with the Children Pastor and Children Ministry leaders.
